BANKRUPTCY OF LORD LOFTUS.

The gross liabilities of Lord Augustus Loftus amount to £02,400, of which is fully secured. . £49,000 of the debts are secured to the extent of ;£l 5,700. The assets are nil, excepting pension and insurance policies, and £30,000 interest under his marriage settlement, worth £500 a year. He also possesses many shares in Parncll's Pyrites Patent Company. The principal unsecured creditors in Sydney are tlie City Bank, £1,170; F. Soiners, £900 j Marquis, Coutts, and Co., partly secured, £31,000 ; Lady Loftus, fully secured, £2,200. Lord Loftus attributes his failure to his income being inadequate as >;npared with the duties he had to fulfil.' It is believed that offers of composition have been made, but as to the amount nothing is known. The only free asset is his pension, which it is understood the creditors cannot touch.
