IS SOUTH AUSTRALIA INSOLVENT?
[press association.]
Lonuox, November 11. Sir Arthur Bia'TH has written a letter to the " Sfc. James Gazette," denying the statement published by that paper that South Australia was insolvent and not worth the principal of the debt of the colony. He considers the statement unjust, and further refers to the splendid harvest of gold and silver discovered there. He tlinks there is every prospect of the population being speedily increased, The "St. James Gazette" comments ironically on the letter, but does not doubt that South Australia will recover its status.
