It is,rumoured that Sir P. C. Owen, at the instance of the Prince of Wales, will represent the British exhibitors at the Melbourne Exhibition.
Dr. Gray, of Liberton, has declined an engagement for Scots Church, Melbourne.
The Australian mails, per P. and O. steamship Valetta (Melbourne, August 24th), were delivered here yesterday, via Brindisi.
Mr Adye Douglas, Agent-General for Tasmania, will leave England for that colony on November 4th. A loan of £50,000, at 4 per cent., for the borough of Redfern, New South Wales, will be placed on the market on the 10th instant. The minimum has been fixed at 91.
The " Guardian " states that if Sir J. Stevens's Divorce Bill for New South Wales is unvetoed, the clergy will have a right to refuse to remarry a divorced person or allow the rite of Communion. The " Daily News " considers that it would be a serious step to veto the Divorce Bill, and would lead to grave results.
