SPORTING NEWS.
A meeting of the Committee of tho Auckland Racing Club was held yesterday afternoon to consider Mr Evett's letter declining the position of handicapper under the conditions proposed. The proceedings were entirely of a private nature, but it has transpired that the Committee are anxious to retain Mr Evett's services, and the Secretary waß instructed to put himself in communication with Mr Evctt so that some fresh arrangement may be come to. '
Tho Otahuhu Racing Club held their annual meeting at the Star Hotel, Otahuhu, last night. There was a tpod attendance, and Mr A. Harris occupied the chair. After a lerigthy discussion, it was proposed, "That the present so-called Otahuhu Racing Club be wound up, and that a new club be iormed to be called the Otahuhu Racing Club." It was further resolved that the nucleus of a new club be now formed, and that the following gentlemen form the officers of the new club :—President, Mr W. F. Buckland ; vice-president, Mr R. Garrett; judge, Mr .W. P. Buckland; and a committee consisting of the president and Messrs A. Harris, R. McGee, P. Perry, W. Laxon, and It. Garrett, the additional members of committee to be elected at a future meeting. It was determined to hold a spring meeting, to take place on Saturday, the 24th of September. A vote of thanks to Mr T. Rogers (late vice-president), the chairman, and to the press for its generous treatment of the club, with expressions of satisfaction with the management of affairs by the secretary, terminated the meeting.
