Beef y. Beer.—The annual competition between representatives of Beef artd Beer took place at Potter's Paddbek, Ep^bm, yesterday, and after an exciting contest the latter won by 8 points to nil. The teams were driven to and from the ground in brakes, accompanied by a brass band, and the contest was witnessed by a fair sprinkling of spectators. . Messrs Parker and Steele-we're umpires, and Mr Ryan referee. Wellington v. Otago.—The following team bas been chosen to play for Wellington against Otago on Saturday :—Fullback—Dixon ; three-quarters—Gage, Moorhouse, and Fairbrother ; halves—Merlet and Richardson ; forwards — Smith, Taiaroa, Ellison, Crowell, Cockroft, Mclntyro, Storey; and Williams. The only new men are Dixon and Williamsj Cooper being left out; and King being unable to play.
