Oamaku, Thursday.

The cliitrgo against Agues Sargo^on for tho murder of her infant child was concluded today. The. circumstances are that the remains of a child were found buried in the yard behind tho house that bad Jived in. The prisoner hud lemoved from the house, telling the neighbours that Mrs Bcott, of Taieri, had called to take the child away. The evidence disclosed the fact that no suih porßou lived at the place mentioned. Tho remains found wore much mutilated, but owing to thoir advanced Btate of decomposition littlo evidonce could bo gleaned from the post mortem. The doctors could not agreo as to the cauee of death, but the doctor --ho attended the child four or five daya boforo its disappearance, in evidonce said it could not live, as it was dying when hi raw it. Tho ploa set up was that the child died a natural death, and that tlse woman had buried it in tho yard, the mutilation being caused by the sp:ido in burial. A verdict of " Not guilty" wa6 returned.
