Messrs Downie, Lucas, Thomas, Clark, Hawk and Gentry will represent the Rifle Kangora at the Now Zealand Rifle Association meeting. Mr Alexander Hume, Secretary to Thames Land, Building, and Investment Society, died today from inflammation of the bowels. Ho was an old resident of the Thames, having arrived hore tome 18 years ago.

Price, a dangerous lunatic, who escaped from the Asylum on Friday, has been recaptured. Nothing has been heard of the cqpvict Ccabtree, who escaped from Mount Cook tiaol yesterday morning.

Tbo Rev. Mr Dowio, tho " faith healer," opened in the Oddfellows' Hall last night to a very largo audience The proceedings were vory ordorly, and Mr Dowie'a address was moderate in tone. He stated that he could not heal anybody who had not faith. No " healing " was attempted last night. Mr Joeoph Gourd, President of the Chamber of Commerce, has resigned. The twoand-aquarter mile course for Chriatchurch Regatta hns been laid off on Lake Forsyth. There is ono bond, and the finish is 1,000 yards in length. Tho narrowest part is 70 yards wide.
