Oreat damage haa been ! done to tho roads and feotpaths and the contents, of stores and private houses. The full extent of damage to the country districts is not yet known, but larye tracts of country aro submerged, and the loss of stock is considerable. Railway communication has been restored aa far as (irovetown, but it will be some days beforo the line is repaired and the train can run to Blenheim. The ilood in the centre of tho town was seven inches lower than in ISGS. The streets and shops aro rapidly recovering their wonted appearance.
