Now Zealand Court in the Exhibition.
Wellington, this day.—The Governor has received a telogram stating that Mr Stanhope, Secretary for Colonies, visited tho New Zealand Court, over which Dr. Yon Haast conducted him, and expressed himself delighted with the perfect arrangement, variety, and character of tho exhibits.
A Strange Charge,
The Arnolds, charged with harbouring a burglar, Mitchell, wore dismissed to-day. It was shown that they had boasted that thoy would toll where tho plant was for £100, and Freeman actually offered thorn £50, to whi=h the police added £20 more. Counsel insinuated that the men were in the pay of tho police.
Tho first meeting of the Radical Reform T caguo was held in Excelsior Hall, Upper Pitt-street, ou Monday last, Mr F. Jeune in the chair. A number of members joined the Association, and rules were discussed and agreed to. The objects of the society are "to expose public abuses, and promote social and political reform,' and the officers are to bo elected half-yearly — January and July. Ordinary meetings ore to be held on the first Monday of each month. Members' subscriptions are fixed at la per quarter.
