Butwkks the hours of 9 o'clock and 11.30 this morning, the oflicc of Mr Maj'B, chairman of the Waitcnmtfi Council was completely beseigod hy men anxious for employment on the Grout North Kond works at, Waikomiti. Hy 11.30 three ganga of married men wore made up. No. 1 .and 2 gangs number 10 men each, while No. 3 giuiff, which is bossed by Mr C'onn'cll, chairman of tho Unemployed Committee, comprise 15 men. All three gangs will commence work to-morrow. Wo learn that there were moie applicants for employment than could be found for the married applicants. However, it is expected that two or three additional gangs will bo put on during the next day or so. Two men who were found unsuitable for heavy pick and shovel work wire cent by Jlr Mays to the works at Newmarket. Mr Perclvnl wants three men for a few days at the grand stand. Ellerslie. Applicants should be there at eijjht o'clock to-morrow morning.
