The annual meeting of this distriot was held in the schoolroom, Mr J. A. Beale in the chair. Only eleven persons were present,
Mr Edward Hammond, Chairman of the rotiring Committee, rend the annual roport, which showed that the attendance had advancod from 322 to 400 under tho now master, Mr Healey, whose abilities as a toachor and goneral efficiency wore noticed. Allusion was alfo made to tho want of harmony somo timopast botween the Headmaster and Mr Talbot. Mr Tfilbot, howovor, had bean transferred to another school, and Mr Campbell had h'l'edhis place as assistant The statement of accounts read as follows: Receipts : Balance in bank and in hand on Januaiy Ist, 1884, £1 12s lid ; grant from Board, £80; total, £31 112s lid. Expendiaure: Cleaning school, £C 6 10s; fuel and gas, £4 9s ; repairs to school and furniture, £7 2b Gd, books, maps, towels, &c, £1 8s 6d ; stationery and cheque-book, 7a Id; balance, £1 15s lOd; total, £81 12s lid. Mr Hammond stated that of 313 sent up to the standard examinations only 35 had iailoJ, showing that 8!) per cent, had passod, and very few had been put down through irregular attend-anco. Tho following gentlemen were nominated for the new Committee : -J. Robertson, 10- S. Clarke, 10; R. Hammond, 9 ; \V. Good, 9 ; J. A. Beale, S ; J. Boon, 8 ; 0. Layers, 7 ; E. W. Burton, 5 ; and A. L. Hulmo, 5. The first seven were elected, and Mr Hammond was re-olccted Chairman for tho ensuing year.
