MEETINGS OF CREDITORS.
Final meetings of the creditors of Augustus William Burnett, carrier, of Norman's Hill, Onohunga, and of James and Leslie Moir, contractors, of Mangawai, were to have been held to-day, but in each case lapsed for want of a quorum. The debtors will therefore have to apply to the Court under the 184 th section of the Act for their discharge. Mr Thos. Macffarlane (the trustee) has hied the following reports :—
Augustus William Burnett.—"The debtor was a carrier residing at Onehunga. He states that there was so much competition on the road that his business did not piy, and he gradually got into debt. He had sickness in his family, and tho death of one of his children added further to his expenses. A creditor having obtained judgment against him, forced him to iilo his schedule to prevent execution being put in his house. His liabilities are stated at 1129 ss, and his assets (nominal) at £40. These I have realised and paid a dividend of 4s Cd in the £. lam not aware of anything to prevent the debtor getting his discharge." James and Leslie Moir.—"The debtors were bush contractors at Mangawai, and were doing well enough until, by heavy Hoods, their works at which they carried on their trade were completely destroyed, rondering them unable to carry on. Immediately after this they were sued by one of their creditors, and, seeing no possibility of paying anyone, they were compelled to sock tho protection of tho Court. Their liabilities arc £135 17s sd, and their assets nil. This looks like a case of sheer misfortune, and I see no reason for denying their discharge."
