Before his execution on Tuesday last, Burns, the murderer of Michael Quinlivan, confessed that he had committed eight murders. Fivp in Victorra, and three in New South Wales.

A verdict for plaintiff, with damages of £2, has been returned in the action brought by Joseph Thompson, tho well-known bookmaker, against Adelaide Racing Club for wrongful expulsion from tho enclosure in May last. Tho Court held that the Club's leaso of tho course was not a valid one.
Arrival of Suez Mails.

Arrived, at King George's Sound last evening : P. and O. steamship Mirzaporc with mails dated London, August 24.
The Hanlan - Laycock Sculling Match.
Sydney, September 26.
It is announced that Hanlan, the Canadian oarsman, has notified his willingness to accept Laycock's challengo to row a sculling match for the championship of the world. Hanlan stipulates, however, that the allowance for expenses shall be £300.
Sydney, September 2G. The Minister for Lands is seriously ill. Brisbane, September 20.
A proclamation has been issued to-day summoning both Houses of Parliament to meet for tho despatch of business on November 13.
