THE NATIVE OUTRAGES AT KAWHIA.
Mr Butler's Report on tho Occurrences.

Wklusuton, this day. GOVERNMENT havo received information respecting the destruction of beacons at Kawhia by the [natives. Mr Butler, of the Nativo Ofh'ce, who was sent to make inqnirios, found that the beacons placed br Captain Fuirchild rocently are removed, and so much broken that it would take some considerable to repair and reerecft them. One of tho two chiefs who wero concerned in tho destruction of the beacon had gone to Whatiwhatihoe with Tawhaio. Tho other was still at Kawhia, and when Mr Butlor called on him to assist at once in repairing and re-erecting the beacon, ho answered that ho could notdoso without instructions from Tawhiao. These two chiefs are tho same as were concerned in pulling up the pegs on the road from Kawhia round to Aotoa harbour. It is behaved that in both instances the chiefs acted at tho instance of Tawhiao and some of his advisers belonging to the Waikato tribes. Tho beacons have not yet boon reerected. Tlio Hinemoa has left for Wellington.
