A FEW LAST WORDS.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—Unless my ears st^ngely deoeived me Mr Webb said that he admitted " the Ministry of Angels" as taught In scripture. Moreover, hs asked me how we could identify these angels with the spirits ot the departed; for which I referred him to s«rae ot Swedenborg's teachings, lending him to say that he had been compelled to look intoSwerlenborgin consequence of being accused nf heresy in his former field of labour. Whereas this aiffers from what I said in my former note lam unnbl* to see. No man doubts that there are multitudes of excellent Christian people now in tho world ; buo Mr Webb knows that this has nothing whatever to do with the profe-aing Church being, to use his own expression, " Apostate." The charge of diabolism is childish or malevolent, and in either case will refute itself. A diacussiou proceeding from that point would becomo one of Christian Doctrino and Ethics, for which I am quite prepared if Mr Webb or anyone desires it. To Mr Webb's nngentlemanly insinuation from " gossip roport," I can only express the sincere wish that he may possess and manifest as beautiful a Christian spirit as Mrs Britten has shown towards him and her columlnators generally.— I am, &c. Samuel Edgkb. Decembers, 1879.
