THE LATEST TRICK.
"(To the Editor.)'
Sir, —The trick is now about educationalism. This question'was some time ago settled in New Zealand, for ever.. '■ No attempt should be made to revive. It is perfectly understood that religion- of any sort or kind must certainly not be supported directly or ihdirectly by our common com-, pulsory taxation —that free trade in necessary religion is just about as proper as free, trade in necessary wheat-corn. Even Messrs Wallis and Tole have at last yielded their full adhesion. Right does after all, you see, prevail, and, "no fear." Then why should Mr Whitaker come out against the Eden member ou that alleged one particular difference? Mr Tole is, I believe, a good politician, and, as Mr Swauson eight months ago deposed, always commands a hearing in the House. I do not know him. Ah ! but it is a ruse, a trick. There is something tremendous behind. It is the limiting of bidders with an eye to monopoly ; it is the ninety thousaud acres one lot, instead of the half of one thousaud (500) numerous little twelve hundred pound aettlers, aud consequent meeting and covering our va.*t debt.—l am, &c, W. E. Sadler. Upper Parnell. P.S.—I tbink the "Herald" crusade against the pay to members of £210 a-year a mistake. Not a shilling too much, sir.— W.E.S.
