THE RODNEY ELECTION.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —Some of Mr George's agents have been circulating, they say (but I canuot believe it) with Mr Ceorge's sanction, the old scandal that I received a sum of £200 from Mr Sheehan to induce me to withdraw in his favour at tho last general election, I have therefore deemed it advisable to obtain the following declaration from Mr Sheehan, which I hope you will be good enough to publish for me.—l am, &c., August 25, 1879. H. W. Farnall. i "As certain charges have been made damaging to Mr Farnall's character relative to the terms upon which he withdrew from the contest for the Rodney seat at the last geucral election, and retired in my favour, this is to certify that the only terms arranged between us had reference to the endeavouring to obtain another seat for Mr Farnall,,, and that no pecuniary benefit whatever was derived by Mr Farnall for so withdrawing." (Signed) John Sheehan.
