The Fire at Gisborne.

(From our own Correspondent.) Wednesday. The lire which broke out near the powder nugazine on»_ Tuesday was fortunately prevented from reaching the town, par_y through the exertions of the Fire Brigade, who did good service, although their efforts were inuci cramped for want of water. Two new houses belonging to Messrs Hubble and J.cLeod were destroyed. The furniture was laved. Tho buildings were only partlyiusured.

_ Two tons of gunpowder were in the iiiagazirmat the time, close to where the fire originated. It was promptly removed.
