INQUEST.—THIS DAY.

An inquest was held this afternoon at the Provincial Hospital, before Dr Goldsbro' corner, and a jury, on the body of John Ninnis, a messenger, who died on the morning of the 30th ult. Constable Dood knew the deceased by sight. He was on duty in the neighbourhood of West Queenstreet on the 29th. Heard what he thought was a moan from some person in distreeg coming from Mills' Lane. On turning into that thoroughfare, he saw deceased lying by the path-side. There was blood beside Mm, and blood was also oozing from his mouth. He tried to assist him, but he was evidently unconscious. Ran for medical asssist.-n.ee and called a cab; the cab was first on :he spot, and the body was atjonce conveyed to the Hospital.
