A WARNING ON THE TAUPO ROAD.

Our own correspondent at Tauranga writes : —" Mr. Powell —a trader in the habit of packing goods up country, and recently arrived in Te Papa —reports that he Iris just received the following telegram from Mr. M-uinsell, scout to the Native Contingent:—' You can't cross at the Nihu-o-te-kiori." Mr. Powell has also received a letter from a chief warning him not to travel by that route, and stating that Mr. McLean's safe conducts were putiputi—valueless. Nilm-o-te-kiori is a crossingplace of the Taupo road, on the Waikato."
