FAREWELL SOCIAL
Mr and Mrs D. P. Jenkins Honoured On Friday n'ght the Duvauchelle Hall was well filled with friends from Akaroa and the Bays, including representatives from Okains Bay, when a farewell social was tendered to Mr D. P. Jenkins, Postmaster at Duvauchelle, who is being moved to Cheviot. Mv J. J. Bi'ocherie, French Fax-m, and Mrs R. Stewart. Barrys Bay, sent apologies for their absence.
The evening took the form of a social with flag 500 and dancing.
Mrs J. R. Haines, Mr and Mrs C. Minifie won the 500. Mr Harwood supplied the music for the dancing.
A very delightful supper was served and " the evening proved a very enjoyable one.
During the evening Mr P. Cunningham who acted as chairman presented Mr and Mis D. P. Jenkins with a cheque, the parting gift from their many Peninsula friends and he explained the general regret at their departure. He wished them every happiness in the future.
Mr S. J. Vogan on behalf of the Peninsula Rugby Union also presented Mr Jenkins with a cheque and thanked him for his services to Peninsula football as a referee.
Mr Jenkins thanked Messrs Cunningham and Vogan and their Peninsula friends for the gifts.
Mr Jenkins will leave Duvauchelle v/ithin the next fortnight.
