FAREWELL PARTY

A large gathering of friends met at the Little River Town Hall on Friday evening to say good-bye to Mr and Mrs C. Bryant who are leaving the district to make their home in Akaroa

The evening l was spent with cards, lancing, and songs were given by Miss Helen Keenan and a tap dance jy Mr R. Carney. The winners of the cards were Mr J. C. Chapman iSenv. and Mrs J. Patterson.

Mr F., Coop, (chairman of the Wairewa County Council) said Mr and Mrs Bryant would be greatly missed in affairs of the district as they were always deeply interested. He also spoke of the appreciation of the residents of Kailuna for the able way in which Mr Bryant had carried out his duties there often under adverse weather conditions.

lane, Mr and Mrs M. Keenan, Mr and Mrs E. Ussher, Mr Harley Birdling, Mr and Mrs N. Wright, Mr and Mrs, J. Londrigan, Mr and Mrs G. Humphries, Mr and Mrs McQueen and Mr and Mrs S. Barclay.

Mr J. C. Chapman Sen. on behalf of the Batiks Peninsula Power Board, of which Mr Bryant has been a linesman for the past 16 years spoke of his efficiency and many sterling qualities and wished him success in his new position with the Board at Akaroa.

Mr W. Bulman also spoke on behalf oi the Little River Tennis Club and wished Mr and Mrs Bryant success ujo happiness in their new home.

Mr Coop presented the guests of nonour with a handsome chiming clock, a travelling rug and a well filled wallet. Their son Larry received a meccano &et and their little daughter Denise a doll.

Mr Bryant thanked the residents and friends foj their goodwill and Iheir presents.

Music was supplied by Mrs M. WilKins, Messrs H. Stuart, A. Radford, W. Chappell, C. Haack and A. Radford.
