A vote of thanks was passed to the Young Men's Association for use of room, and the meeting adjourned On Saturday last tbe trial match for the selection of a football team to represent Akaroa took place on the Recreation Ground, and resulted in the probable team winning after a good contest by 20 points to 8. The ground wns in a fairly good condition, considering tho wet weather experienced during the early part of last week. Tbe probable team turned up to the number of eleven, whilst their opponents (all comers) numbered 18 players. Tbe game could hardly bo looked upon as a scientific display of football, as the play was mostly confined ,to the forward division. Several glaring instances of off eide play and hand-ball occurred, and it is iinnbcespary to state that these breaches of tho rules often lose a match. For the probable team tries wera obtained by Tayler (2), Shadbolt and W. Watkins, three of which Bruce converted, and Thomson one. All ihe winners played a good bard game, the fice forwards holding their own easily ag_iD*t their numerous opponents, For nil comers, P. Glynan, A. Narbey (both of whom were changed from the original selection), Armstrong and Joseph Glynan Bbowed up well, but the remainder were evidently not in good form.
The following team has been chosen to represent the Club in their match on Thursday (Arbor Day), play to begin at 3 o'clock sharp :—Full-back — Bruce ; three-quarters, l.cc. Thomson and Mora ; halves—Tayler and Vangioni ; forwards— Watkinß (2), Narbey (2). Shadbolt, Scott, Glynan, Armslrong and Penlington'. Emergencies—Jos. Glynan, Wight and Hemingway. ;
