BAN IN AUSTRALIA (Ree. 9.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, Aug.-18. The Minister of Commerce (Mr J. McEwen) announced last night that the Government would take into account all the recommendations of the Australian Agricultural Council before deciding whether to lift the ban on New Zealand potatoes. He said that the council at its annual conference in Canberra recommended an understanding with the New Zealand Government to protect Australian potato growers, if the embargo were lifted as an emergency measure.
