Earlv Debate on Defence (Rec. 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 16. , The Prime Minister, Mr Attlee, to-night rejected Opposition demands for the early recall of Parliament to discuss Britain's de- k fence plans. . ’ S : After a 90-minute meeting with the Conservative leader, Mr Winston Churchill, and the Liberal leader, Mr Clement Davies, at No. 10 Downing Street, Mr Attlee announced that Parliament would be called on September 12 —the date originally fixed by Cabinet. Earlier in the day Mr Attlee had returned from his country home at Chequers to preside at a meeting of Cabinet, at which defence was discussed.
