WARM FOLLOWING FROST
Another frost, of 12.8 degrees, was experienced in Ashburton this morning, continuing the succession of frosts since August 1. It was not until late in the morning that temperatures improved although the sun was shining brightly. Other recordings taken at 9 o’clock this morning were: Maximum temperature 50.0 degrees, minimum 25.4 degrees, earth 38.5 degrees, barometer 30.04 inches. The sun shone for 7.3 hours yesterday OUTLOOK FAIR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the -weather: General situation: A high pressure ridge over New Zealand is weakening and a cold front is moving over southern New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to midnight to-morrow is: Light'or moderate south-west winds, freshening to-morrow; fair to-night, with frosts, but cold showery conditions developing to-morrow. Further outlook: Fair. SUN AND MOON Sun rose to-day, 7.22 a.m.; sets, 5.50 p.m. Sun rises to-morrow, 7.20 a.m.; sets, 5 51 p.m. First Quarter, August 21. 3.35 a.m. Full Moon, August 29, 4.17 p.m. Last Quarter, September 5, 1.53 a.m. New Moon, September 12, 3.29 p.m.
