COMMUNISTS IN N.Z.
AUCKLAND R.S.A. SEEKS BAN (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 15. The Auckland Returned Services’ Association wants Communists and subversive elements in the Dominion outlawed. In a resolution passed last night, the executive committee of the association called on the Dominion executive council to approach the Government. “We have been playing cricket with Lite Communists too long,” said Mr K. C. Aekins, in moving the resolution. “They are allowed full democratic rights, but are loath to accord the same rights to others. We are sending troops to fight them in Korea. Why should .we tolerate them at home?” Mr F. L. Rudd did not agree that Communists should be outlawed. “Although I detest Communism because ot first-hand experience in Greece after the war,”- ho said, “I feel that to outlaw it and force it underground only makes it more dangerous. When Great Britain outlaws the Communists, .then it will be time for us to do so.”
