WOMEN’S FIXTURES
INTERESTING END OF SEASON The women’s hockey season, nearing its end, has many important and interesting fixtures to comprise its remaining activities. At a recent meeting of the Ashburton Union it was decided to hold the' annual knock-out competition in senior and junior grades on September 9. Seniors will play for the Bishop Memorial Shield, and juniors for the Knock-out Cup. On August 19, it was also decided, when the two representative teams are absent from Ashburton at the New Zealand tournament, friendly games will be arranged for i all who will still be in Ashburton. On Saturday next senior A and B representatives will play, in Timaru their annual matches with South Canterbury and in consequence there will be no games in Ashburton.- For the representative fixture the Following are the teams and officials: “A” Team—M. Moore, E. Watson (capt), M. Craig, M. Cairns, M. Am-, bier, H. Cairns (vice-capt), J. Tyler, L. Skinner, Dorothy Cromie, B. Edge, N. Gaylor. Emergencies: Dina Gromie, J. McKay, D Slade. Chaperon: Mrs Loach. Umpire: Mrs Kirk. B Team—B. Brown (vice-capt), L. Mallett, M. Taylor, M. Donaldson, M. Mclntosh, M. Shand, N. Baird* E. Simpson, M. Mackay (capt), B. Lamb, B. Skinner. Emergencies: J. Gardiner, D. Moore, A. Lamb. Chaperon: Mrs Scott. Umpire: Mrs Watson. Following is the draw for Ashburton teams at the tournament:—Major section (A team): Sat., August 19, Ashburton v. Wellington B; Monday, August 21, v. Otago; Tuesday, August 22, v. Wairarapa; Wednesday, August 23, v. Canterbury A; Thursday, August 24, v. Auckland Town. Minor Section (B team) .-Saturday, Ashburton v. South Canterbury; Monday, v. Eastern; Tuesday, v.
