MORE THAN £3400 INVOLVED LAST YEAR ft (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. S. In a survey of irregularities with public money and stores, the* Comptroller and Auditor-General (Mr J. P. Rutherford) stated in his annual report to Parliament to-day that misappropriations by departmental officers had amounted to £2095 during the year. There had also been four cases of misappropriation of funas Dy local body officials involving a total of £1354. His report also recorded that unauthorised expenditure for 1949-50 amounted to £3,067,698, which exceeded the statutory limit by £772,590. Legislation would be introduced to validate the excess.
