WOMEN’S DIVISION

MAYFIELD ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Mayfield branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Federation was held in the Lodge Room recently, when the president (Mrs T. Taylor) presided over a good attendance. Motions of sympathy were passed to Mesdames Hayman and G. Moore. Mrs D.. Elms was appointed delegate to the Dominion conference. It was decided to again do the catering for the dog trials. A letter of thanks from an elderly lady in England for a food parcel was received. The W.I. and W.D. competition was won by Mrs Simms, senr. The president read the annual report, which stated that the year ended with a membership of 44. The highlight of the year was the visit of the Dominion president (Mrs Haldane). The dressmaker and housekeeper were in the district during the year. Food parcels were sent to deserving cases in England; and the following donations were made: Housekeeping scheme £ls, community chest £5, provincial executive £l4, Stratheona £3 4s, Leper Appeal £1 17s 6d, penny for friendship 6s, A.C.W.W. £1 3s 6d. The substantial credit balance of £2l 18s 9d was shown in the balance-sheet.

Sprays were presented by Mrs G. J. Murdoch to the secretary, treasurer, president and Mrs K. Tailor, who presided for the election of officers which resulted: President, Mrs T. Taylor; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. D. Murdoch, G. Marsh and A. Murdoch; secretary, Mrs G. Blockley; treasurer, Mrs H. J. Lilley; committee, Mesdames G J. Murdoch. G. Ellery, R. Bean, D. Elms and R. Bonisch; delegates to executive, president, secretary and treasurer; auditor, Mr R. Bonisch, sales tables, Mrs G. Ellery, sen.: ad : visory members, Mesdames T. Taylor and G. Marsh; competition stewards. Mesdames R. Bean and R. Bonisch; “Country Women” agent and dressmaker secretary, Mrs H. J. Lilley. Mrs K. Taylor presented the year’s prizes as follows: Vegetables, Mrs Simms 1, Mrs G. Ellery 2; sewing, Mrs Simms 1, Mrs G. Ellery 2; flowers, Mrs G. J. Murdoch 1, Mrs Simms 2; most points, Mrs Simms 1, Mrs G. Ellery 2; cooking, Mrs Marsh f, Mrs Simms 2; best syllabus, Mrs. A. Murdoch, Mesdames Marsh and Bean (eo.ual) 2; best bloom, Mrs R. Bonisch 1, Mrs G. Ellery 2; spike or truss, Mrs G. ( Ellery I, Mrs T. Taylor 2. The hostesses were Mesdames H. H. Patterson and D. Elms. AN AM A BRANCH The annual meeting of the Anama branch of the Women’s Division was held at the home of the president, ‘Mrs R. Currie, who presided over an excellent attendance. A motion of sympathy with women in the Anama and other branches who have suffered bereavement through the year was passed, members standing in silence. T The president's and secretary’s report showed a year of progress and good work done. ’CJie district was fortunate in securing a housekeeper for one family, and the division dressmaker had sewn for seven families. Eighty pounds of fat for Britain had been forwarded,, also a knitted quilt and a variety parcel for Corso. Donations were made to the housekeeping scheme, Leper Appeal, Corso, etc. A talk, a demonstration, and a small flower show made an interesting meeting.

The treasurer’s report proved interesting and a credit balance of £l6 17s lid was disclosed. The election of officers for the coming year resulted; President, Mrs R. Currie; vice-presidents, Mrs H. McKenzie and Mrs S. Bennett; secretary, Mrs W. J. Quantock; treasurer, Mrs J. Hewson; advisory members, Mrs Ludiman and the secretary; sales table, Mrs Rushton; delegates to the Provr.y*?ia] Executive, the president, secretary and Mrs A. Rushton; in charge of competitions, Miss B. Currie.
