TINWALD CLUB RACE A. SAMPSON WINS The Tinwald Cycling Club held a 27' mile road race of three laps of the Willowby block on Tuesday. With bitumen now extending from the main south road to the Willowby School, the block has become faster, but it/ has not lost its toughness over the remainder of the journey. On the day, neither the Timaru nor the Geraldine visitors 'could handle the going, and all riders finishing are race were Tinwald men. It was soon evident that the 21 and 3J minute men, who had combined after the first round, were teaming well and keeping away from the back men; though'they lost two of their strongest riders (Bain and Scott), who punctured, they overhauled the limit men, L. Arnst and R. Skilling, on thg last round and filled the first three places. , The local scratch men, A. McKenzie and J. Whyte, had a great tussle for fastest time, and after a solid ride throughout, in company with J. Tate (lmin), whom they caught in the first round. McKenzie just prevailed over Whyte in the sprint home. Results were: A. Sampson (3|min), 76min 14 2-5 sec, 1; J. Keeley (21min) 2, T. L. Peach (2Jmin) 3, A.
