Patterson, president of the Young Farmers’ Club, and Mr H. Donaldson, from the Waikato, suitably replied. Novelty dances were won by Miss S. Murdoch and Mr D. Eaden, and Miss N. Harrison and partner. It is sub-titled “A Tramper’s Dihry,” and is a most interesting account of tramping experiences from the Bealey to Hokitika. The author is John Pascoe, who previously contributed “The High Country Run” to a previous bulletin, and who succeeds in giving a vivid picture, not only,of tramping which includes a good share of mountaineering, but also of the gorges, passes, rivers, and glacierfe overcome en route. Altogether the story shows 'that one need not travel thousands of miles to strange countries if one he in search of diversion and adventure; it lies at out "very back doors, for the Southern Alps are within everybody’s reach.
