FINE, AND SUNNY The weather in Ashburton to-day was fine and sunny, with warm temperatures. At 1 o’clock a few spots of rain fell, but without effect. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: There is a depression south of New Zealand and an anti-cyclone is over the Western Tasman Sea. 1 The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m, to-morrow is as follows:- , Light or moderate south-westerly winds predominating:. some isolated showers, chiefly about Banks Peninsula, weather otherwise fair; temperatures cool. Further outlook: Fair.
