DUST STORMS IN UNITED STATES

SKY OBSCURED OVER SEVEN STATES CHICAGO, March 7. Great clouds of dust obscured the sky over seven States to-day as fierce winds tore at tl;e parched plains. Conversation experts were particularly concerned over conditions in western Texas, eastern Colorado, south-western Kansas, and the Panhandle section of Oklahoma. They feared that the conditions held the threat of another “dust bowl.” Large areas of North Dakota and South Dakota were almost isolated as a blizzard of 60 miles an hour ripped down telephone wires and blocked roads with deep snow. Fierce winds in Nebraska spread grass fires, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ damage to pasture crops. '
