CANADIAN SUPPLIES FOR BRITAIN LONDON, Jan. 3. Under the new agreement Canadian bacon for Britain will be seven cents a pound cheaper than under the previous . agreement. Britain will defer the purchase of 37,500,000 dollars’ worth of wheat. The United Kingdom will buy salmon arid timber, in place of the wheat, in the meantime. Commenting on the bacon agreement with Canada, the “Daily Mail” says: “The Canadian Government slashed , its prices so that Britain’s bacon supply could be maintained. The British people are now assured of i a continued ration of 4oz. a. week. ' “Canada is to deliver the bacon at Is 92d pel* lb, which is 5Jd less than the 1949 price. Canada will lose £,68i,81$ oil. the deal becapse the price is below the new minimum which the Canadian Government agreed to pay the farmers a fortnight ago.”
