WORLD PACIFIST CONFERENCE

OFFICIAL OPENING IN , CALCUTTA ' / LONDON, Dec. 2. The New Delhi correspondent of “The Times” says that 60 delegates from 30 foreign countries and 25 delegates from India are attending the World Pacifist Conference, w v hich was opened yesterday in Calcutta by Dr. K. N. Katju, Governor of West Bengal. The conference owes its inspiration to the late Mahatma - Gandi’s philosophy of non-violence and has the Indian Government’s moral backing. Its sponsors hope it may lead to the formation of a world union of men and women who are trying to practice non-violence. 6
