OLD MURDER

ALLEGED CONFESSION (Rec. 11.40) NEW YORK, Dec. 2. The police in Detroit are trying to build a case aghinst a successful San Francisco businessman who confessed that he was implicated in a Detroit murder 33 years .ago. The man, who changed his name •from Thomas Karakatsianias is identified only as'“Mister X.” He reported his part in the crime to the San Francisco police when a blackmailer tried to get 1500 dollars from him to “keep his mouth shut.” , The murder occurred on February 7, 1916. Karakatsianias, then 16, and two other Greeks, quarrelled over a girl. Two shots were fired and one of his companions was killed, the other was arrested and named Karakatsianias as the killed. Meanwhile Karakatsianias fled to California and changed his name. The police are now trying to find five persons who would have given evidence in the trial if Karakatsianias had been traced.
