. SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 1. The Skyrocket, combination jet and rocket fighter ; type of aircraft, made its first 1 public demonstration flight to-day at Muroc Dry Lake. California., and reached a speed estimated at 750 miles an. hour. The plane made its run over the course on jet power alone, and a Navy - spokesman estimated that it reached about 670 miles an hour. The aircraft used the jet power and four rocket engines on the second run and observers estimated that it reached 750 miles an hour. The rockets belched a 10-foot stream of flame behind 'the aircraft, which streaked along about 30 feet above ground, and then went to 13,000 feet.
