STRONG NOR’-WESTERLY WIND
A strong nor’-westerly wind was in evidence in Ashburton to-day, otherwise conditions were fine and sunny.
Recordings taken at 9 o’clock this morning were: —Maximum temperature . 71.2 degrees, minimum 41.2 degrees, earth 59.2 degrees, barometer 2P.49inches. The sun shone for 10.3 hours yesterday.
OUTLOOK MILD (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The, Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: A depression is passing to the south of New Zealand and- there is' an anti-cyclone in the north-west Tasman. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p,m. to-morrow is as follows: South-westerlies, freshening for a time early to-morrow, accompanied by showers and cooler temperatures: otherwise winds moderate and variable, and weather fair to cloudy and mild except for rain in. the Alps. Further outlook: Mild.
