WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
EALING MEETING A most enjoyable afternoon was speht by the Ealing Women’s Institute at “Lowland,” the home of Mr and Mrs E. Davis, to celebrate International Day and Grandmothers’ Day. Mrs Giddings presided. The motto, “Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, beautiful old people are works of art,” was read by Mrs Davis.
Final arrangements were made for the competition entry. . It was agreed to hold a party for children on December 22. Mrs Giddings gave an interesting international talk.
Duets were sung by Mrs Husband and Mrs Green of Maronan. During afternoon tea Mrs R. Pearce cut the grandmothers’ cake made by Mrs Davis. Mrs' Giddings Hosed the meeting by thanking Mrs Davis for her hospitality and expressed thanks to her two helpers. Sprays were presented to all three by Mrs E. Jones and Mrs L.- Watson. Competition results: —Single bloom, Mrs L. Watson 1, Mrs Reith 2, Mrs Giddings 3; truss, Mrs L. Galletly 1, Mrs Watson 2, Mrs Lewis 3; shrub, Mrs Jones 1, Mrs Watson 2; green peas, Mrs Lamb 1, Mrs Reith 2; broad beans, Mr ; s J. Withell 1, Mrs L. Watson 2, Mrs Reith 3.
