YOUNG MAN DROWNED

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 11. A shearer ejmployed on the Piripiri, station was drowned when he dived into the Awakino river, and apparently struck his head on a hidden ledge. He was William Ngaia, aged 22, of Normanby, near Hawera. Ngaia and a companion went to the river to swim on Thursday, and during the time his companion returned to the station for a towel, Ngaia disap-, peared. A search was made "that evening and the following day, and it was not until midday that Ugaia’ei body was found.
