BASKETBALL
Canterbury Leading (P.A. DUNEDIN, August 25. After two days’ play in the Dominion women’s basketball tournament at St. Kilda, Canterbury has a lead of one point from Auckland in tlie first grade competition for the New Zealand Cup. Canterbury has won all its matches to date. In the second grade competition Taranaki is leading with 12 points from Waikato, 10 points. In the third grade, Marlborough leads with 12 points from North Otago, 10 points. The day’s results were:
First Grade.—Hawke’s Bay 21, Manawatu 12; Southland 12, Wanganui 5; Canterbury 19, Wellington 7; Auckland 18, Otago 17; Southland 14, Wellington 10:* Manawatu 14, Auckland 14; Canterbury 21, Wanganui 9; Otago 21, Hawke’s Bay 17.
