Missing Plane Located

(Rec. 10.5 a.m.) OTTAWA, Aug, 23. A search plane to-day found the wreckage of the two-engined R.C.A.F. transport plane which has been missing in Northern Manitoba with 21 persons aboard. A R.C.A.F. announcement said there was no sign of life aboard the transport, which had crashed and burned 250 miles north-east of Winnipeg. A paratroop rescue team is proceeding to the scene of the crash, using three amphibious planes. The plane’e passengers included eight Eskimos stricken with infantile paralysis. The only woman passenger was a nurse who accompanied the Eskimos. The transport left Churchill, on Hudson Bay, last Sunday for Winnipeg, after replacing weather bureau personnel in. the Arctic Circle.
