STUDENT WHO SHOT TOGLIATTI

(Rec. 10 a.m.) ROME, Aug. 23. Three prisoners at Noto Prison, Cicily, tried to kill Antonio Pallante, a 25-year-old Sicilian student, serving a sentence of 13 years imprisonment for the attempted‘assassination of the Italian Communist leader, Signor Palmiro Togliatti. The three men made daggers from a pair of scissors, overpowered a gaoler and took his keys. They were about to enter Pallante’s cell when his cries for help brought other gaolers.
