FiFTY YEARS SYNE (From the “Guardian,” Aug. 22, 1899). Football —The following are the teams selected to represent the Ashburton Football Club in the seven-a-side tournament at Temuka: —Seniors: N. Orr, E. Purchase, F. Robilliard, M. J. Lynskey, L. Hofcbs, E. Orr, and McGregor. Juniors: Douglas, Dixon, A. Huston, E. Crisp, J. Chapman, A. Curtis and W. Huston. Emergencies: S. Johnstone, P. Orr and Wilkie. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (From the “Guardian,” Aug. 22, 1924). Consent to Planting—Now that the Borough Council has agreed conditionally to the planting of trees on the South East Belt, the Advance Ashburton Association will lose no time in putting the work in hand. Several other requests made by the Association are to receive the consideration of various committees. Recently the Association exhausted its programme, and set about planning new works.
