TRIDALE’S CREW STRIKES
EFFECT OF CANADIAN DISPUTE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 18. Seamen in the Canadian steamer Tridale, now in Wellington, will _ refuse to take the ship to sea until a settlement has been reached with tlie east coast, shipowners in the current dispute with the Canadian Seamen’s Union. This statement on the Tridale seamen’s support for the east coastshipping strike was made this evening by Mr D. Williams, seamen’s delegate. • . ■ Mr Williams said that ships in 12 different countries from Norway down to New Zealand were now involved in the strike. The Tridale arrived from Napier on Thursday. It is expected that a call for waterside labour for handling the ship will be made to-morrow morning. The attitude of the waterside workers has yet to he determined.
