THOUSANDS ATTEND ST. PETER’S

(Rec. 10.30 a.m„) ROME, April 18. Pilgrims from all over the world were among the 20,000 worshippers who assembled in St. Peter’s to-day for a special Easter Monday Mass for peace. The Pope was not present, but he joined ip prayers for peace in his Vatican apartments. With this big influx of worshippers, Rome has been having a foretaste, of conditions expected during 1950 for the holy year. The Pope to-day received some SOOQ tourists and pilgrims. They included Americans, Canadians, French, Belgians, Swiss and Swedes.
