Britain’s “summer in spring” continued to-day with temperatures generally ranging over 66 degrees.
Easter sunshine to-day sent Europeans on both sides of the ‘‘li’ofi Curtain,” streaming from their capitals into the countryside. Parisians, Berliners, ancl Muscovites packed trams, buses and underground trams to make the most of one of the brightest Easters in Europe’s memory. , Over. 1,000.000 Parisians spent the week-end in the country or by the sea. Moscow is undergoing a big spnngr clean, with hotels and buildings being painted, and streets being tidied for the May Day celebrations. Berliners, from the. four sectors, spent to-dav in the woods and sunbathing at lakes surrounding the city.
Beer Along Playing Fields
In Britain’s hottest Easter this century, the sun was so strong that glasses of beer were placed alongside the ground for players at the Folkestone, Kent, hockey festival who found the weather uncomfortable tor one of the fastest winter games. A Rugby Union player left the field with sunstroke during a match between London Scottish and the West of Scotland at Richmond, Surrey. At Blackpool, however,' ram sent thousands of holidaymakers on their “Easter parade” on the seafront rushing for indoor entertainment. , Yesterday was the hottest April day on record in London. The shade temperature rose to 83 degrees Fahrenlieitf Temperatures on the Continent were also high, Pans recording 86,. Brussels 82 and •'Frankfurt 75 degrees.
Rush to Holiday Spots
Millions of Britons today flocked to holiday spots to celebrate tbe sunniest Eastertide ever recorded. Motor traffic, on the roads today was the heaviest of the weekend, with nearly 18,000 vehicles leaving London every hour on the 14 main roads. Over 100,000 people went to Rotten Row in Hyde Park, to see the first “Easter parade” since 1939. It was a brilliant fashion show. V
