WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
HIGHBANK ANNUAL MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Highbank Women’s Institute. Mrs C. A. Campion Avas in the .chair. Correspondence dealing with the annual federation meeting Was dealt with. Members decided to run a bus to enable members to attend. The treasurer reported on the result of the recent floAver show Avhich showed a return of £7 17s 6d. .
A competition Avas won by Mrs Ci A. Campion. Other competition results were:—Prettiest butter dish, Mrs L. Crooks 1, Mrs J. D. Marr 2, Mrs F. J. Woods 3. Vase of flowers, Mrs L. Crooks and Mrs F. J. Woods (equal) 1, Mrs W. K. Wilson 3. Bloom, Mrs A. Geddes 1, Mrs G. Callaghan 2, Mrs F. J. Woods 3. Mrs* J. D. Marr took the chair for the annual meeting. The retiring.president, Mrs C. A. Campion, thanked all members for their support throughout the year. The treasurer’s report presented by Mrs A. Geddes showed a satisfactory balance-. Mrs E. Vaughan Avas appointed auditor for the coming year. The Currie House and the Sandrey House both had 185 points at the close of the year. Mrs J. Letham was appointed leader of the Currie House and Mrs F. J. Woods leader of the Sandrey House. The winners of the competition points for the year were Mrs F. J. Woods 1, Mrs J.. Lethara ?, Mrs L. Woods 3. Officers for 1949-50 are:—President, Miss M. Carr; vice-presidents, Mesdames L. Crooks and J. W. Thomas; secretary, Mrs L. Lilley; assistant secretary, Miss -I. Campion; treasurer, Mrs L. Crooks; committee,. Mesdames E. A.. Bland, C. A. Campion, G. Callaghan, A. Geddes, J. Letham, P. Ruck and F. J. Woods.
