Domain Hedge On Fire Fire to-day destroyed about tAvo chains of the macrocarpa hedge forming the Walnut Avenue boundary of the Domain. A call Avas sent to the Ashburton Brigade shortly before 1 o’clock, and they quickly had the flames under control. Found Dead in Bed Mr Egbert Griffiin (69) Avho resides at 125 Havelock Street, was found dead in bed this morning. The discovery Avas made by Mr F. A. Coldicott, a neighbour, Avho frequently visited Mr Griffin, who has been in indifferent health for some time. No inquest will be necessary. Praise for Band The following letter has been received by the Mayor (Mr E. C. Bathurst), from the manage? of the Royal Hotel Auckland, where the Ashburton Silver Band stayed during the Dominion Brass Bands contest: “Dear Sir, We thought you would appreciate these few lines from us expressing our appreciation of the excellent conduct of the members of the Ashburton Silver Band Avhilst staying Avith vis during the contest last Aveek.
